Spring and Fall School Programs

Available March through May and September through December, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. Minimum 20 people. Reservations required. Call (888) 934-1804.

The program includes:

  • Guided caverns tour
  • Panning for gems and minerals at the sluice
  • Candle-making demonstration
  • Hand-dipping your own candles
  • Lye soap-making demonstration
  • Grist mill demonstration
  • Nature trail
  • Scavenger hunt available

Lesson plans are divided into units, each covering a specific topic. They include background information for the teacher and students, artwork for reproduction, post-lesson quizzes with answer keys, and additional activities.

There is also a cave-only program that includes the one-hour guided caverns tour only. Minimum 15 people.

Summer Outings

Program available June, July and August, 9 am to 6 pm. Great for youth groups, company outings and birthday parties. Minimum 15 people. Reservations required. Call (888) 934-1804.

Includes a guided caverns tour and all Village activities, such as candle-dipping and lye soap- making demonstrations, panning for minerals and gems at the sluice, and a grist mill demon stration. Your group may also enjoy walking along the nature trail, stopping by Boone’s Kitchen and Candy Shop, or relaxing in our shaded picnic areas.

Scout Badge Programs

Geology and Forestry badge programs are offered for Boy Scouts and Webelos. Cub Scouts can obtain their, Digging in the Past badge. Classes led by trained instructors are designed to meet the new requirements for each badge.
